2016 Pachanga

5 Jul 2016 8:56 AM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

PACHANGA  - Spanish   /paw*chong*guh/   (Noun)

1.   Party or Bash
2.  A gathering of mountain cyclists on some of the most amazing unsung trails around to ride the “best of the best” mountain sleds.

The camping/riding event that put TORCA on the map continues to evolve and it just keeps getting bigger and better! Like last year, this event includes three days of camping and riding. This event was previously open to TORCA members only, but this year’s events are open to EVERYONE! That’s right, you don’t have to be a member (but members get a steep discount to the event, as TORCA is a 501c3 non-profit that is supported solely on its’ membership dues). Hey, “membership has its privileges”. We also have a few exciting new additions to the weekend, including:

  • More Manufacturers We’ve already eclipsed last year’s # of manufacturers and still have more manufacturers who are planning on taking part. Already committed are Specialized, Niner, Ibis, Guerilla Gravity, Trek, Giant, Liv, Rocky Mountain.
  • Saturday night’s Fireside Horseshoe Contest  SPONSORED by Five Ten shoes
  • Mini Skills Clinic with Lindsey Voreis of Ladies Allride
  • Easy Registration. No formulas. No caveats. Just simple member and non-member pricing.

Activities under permit by US Forest Service

2nd Annual FUNDURO AND DEMO DAY
Sunday October 23rd, 9:00am – 2:00pm

We’re taking the buzz of the MTB world, the “Enduro” and adding a little more “fun” to it. This will take place on one of Tucson’s favorite (if not favorite) trails, La Milagrosa Trail! In a FUNDURO, there is only one class and it’s not about the fastest riders. We take the average time of all riders from the timed stages and the times closest to the average are the winner! Prizes will be given to the 5 “most average” riders. If you’re the “STRAVA” type, we may have some prizes for you too, but shhh, THIS IS NOT A RACE!  It’s a time trial. If this isn't your thing, check out MORE bike demos on Prison Camp trail!

FOOD

While we’ll be providing Dinner on Friday night and Lunch on Saturday, food options are limited. There are however a few options within a few minutes of the events. We recommend The Iron Door Restaurant across from the Ski Lifts at Mt. Lemmon as well as The Sawmill in Summerhaven. Please check out their hours as they close early some days.
In addition, there are few restaurant options at the bottom of the mountain at the corner of Tanque Verde and Catalina Hwy, Just a 10 minute drive back down the mountain. We recommend Risky Business at 8848 E. Tanque Verde. Aside from the fact that they are one of our sponsors and mountain biker owned, they have awesome food and a bitchin selection of beers! Lastly, we recommend Le Buzz Café for coffee and a ridiculous assortment of homemade pastries, sandwiches and salads. They are located next to the Safeway Grocery Store on the corner of Tanque Verde and Catalina Hwy.

HOTELS

There are a few options for lodging within a short 15 minute drive. A few options include the Comfort Suites and the Ramada Tucson East on Tanque Verde. Both of these hotels are adjacent to each other and short drive to Mt. Lemmon. In addition there are a few Tucson mtb locals with some great guest houses for rent really close to the event. Contact TORCA President Art Alcantara for details on these rentals. 520-591-1514
