Friends of Redington Pass (FRP) will host a Community Meeting to discuss the future of Redington Pass. FRP is developing a Collaborative Area Management Plan proposal to submit to the Forest Service with recommendations on how to improve management of the Pass. The goal of this Community Meeting is to get input from all those interested in the Pass, from hikers and mountain bikers to hunters and birdwatchers, OHV and ATV riders, target shooters, and horseback riders, nature enthusiasts, and nearby residents.

TORCA came out to Fantasy Island for some trail work. Made some large improvements to The Shaft.

TORCA is excited to announce that we have partnered with the Ladies Allride tour featuring instruction by IMBA certified instructor Lindsey Voreis. If that name sounds familiar, it's because she is the wife of mountain biking icon Kirt Voreis. But she's not riding any coat tails. She's a shredder in her own right! The best part is that she can show you how to improve your skills whether you are a man or a woman, just starting out or you have many miles under your belt. She is a spirited and dynamic instructor that brings a lot of energy and excitement to her clinics. Don't miss out on this awesome opportunity!

TORCA had a busy weekend volunteering at the Epic Rides 24hour of the Old Peublo. We manned a table at the exchange tent for 24 hours straight! TORCA recently had the privilege of meeting a truly inspirational group of people when we were asked by OutriderUSA and Epictrip.org to be part of a focus group on a project that helps bring awareness to adaptive cycling and the possibilities to expand adaptive opportunities for people with spinal injuries.

One of those people we met was Chris Wenner who is responsible for the development and construction of a one of a kind battery powered "trike" that will power him almost 11,000 miles around the country . It uses specially designed toggles that allow for anyone with even limited use of their upper body, the ability to ride the road and even the potential to ride in remote areas and trails. Chris will be embarking on an Epic trip around the perimeter of the US on this one of a kind machine!! We had a challenging but super fun day on SOMO! Thanks to GROAZ for hosting us and welcoming us up in their playground. Everyone made.it back in one piece and with smiles on their faces.

TORCA’s Big Night.

Over 110 people showed up to lend their support of TORCA’s efforts and watch both of Anthill Films’ productions “Not Bad” and “Arrival”. A standing room only, packed house of movie goers were treated to a movie that has not even been released to the public yet. In attendance were families, kids of all ages, industry and bike shop personnel, local shredders and we even had a visit from the GROAZ folks that made the drive from Phoenix to join In on the fun.

The Coastal Crews’ film featured clips filmed in Rio De Janeiro, Vancouver Island’s Sunshine coast, Lillooet B.C., and of course Whistler B.C.. TORCA had tons raffle prizes to give away courtesy of our sponsors Fairwheel Bikes, Arizona Cyclists, Club Ride Apparel out of Sun Valley Idaho and Angelfire Bike Park. One lucky winner even won a trip to Angelfire Bike park to shred! TORCA would like to give a huge “thank you” to Jon Alubowicz, owner of Risky Business

(and a mtber) for lending a helping hand and offering up his restaurant as the venue for the movie premiere. Your support and generosity is really appreciated Jon! TORCA would also like to thank it’s now 75 members for supporting it’s grass roots efforts. The movie premiere was a blast and we can’t wait to do it again soon!

On October 19th, T.O.R.C.A. tackled one of Tucson riders' favorite trails, Milagrosa, for some much needed trail work. We had 15 brave souls join us for a long productive day of work. We split into 3 groups. One group headed up Catalina Highway picking up trash along the roadside from Molino Basin to Gordon H. campground. Crew two hiked the entire length of Millie from Molino Basin down. They concentrated their efforts on erosion control and pruning on the first decent of Molino, then continued pruning as they worked their way down, stopping the pruning at the Rock Garden to get out before dark. Crew three came up from the bottom and worked on all the loose rocks and sand that had been accumulating on the bottom half. All in all it was a very productive day on a Tucson gem that needed some work. Come out and join us again for round two with Millie December 8th. We will be pruning the rest of the trail from the rock garden down to the gate, and working on cleaning up more sand and loose rocks that are washing into the trail.
